Shelby
FE Aluminum Cylinder are cast from A-356 aluminum, heat-treated
to T-6 hardness level and precision CNC machined. Patterned
on Ford's famous 427 FE medium raiser cast iron heads,
Shelby FE heads offers leading edge airflow improvements,
starting with standard 2.250-inch intake and 1.750-inch
exhaust valve diameters. Due to valve size, heads are
suitable only for Shelby 427 Alloy FE or factory 427
cast iron blocks. Heads utilize a 14mm diameter, 3/4
-inch reach, gasket spark plug positioned in the shock
location. They are solid in pairs, complete or bare.
Bare heads come with ready-to-run valve seats, so you
just add valve components and go. All Shelby heads are
pressure checked.
Cylinder
head design improvements include:
Modified intake port short turn radius along
with valve bowl area for improved airflow quantity
and quality. Ample port wall thickness allows
room for additional porting.
Exhaust
port floor is raised 0.250-inch for improved
exhaust flow velocity.
Manganese
bronze valve guides provide superior heat transfer
and oil retention for proper valve stem lubrication.
Stainless
steel thread insert fitted in exhaust flange
and rocker shaft assembly mounting boltholes
add strength and prevent thread wear.
A
cast-in "bridge" in the coolant passage
openings, add strength. Deck surface is 5/8-inch
thick.
